In order to make your Seats.io account more secure, we offer the option to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to your account. This allows you to use an authentication app such as Google Authenticator, 2FAS, or Microsoft Authenticator to name just a few, to require a one-time time-based password when logging in.
Setting up two-factor authentication
To get started, log into your Seats.io account and go to the User Settings.
From here, you will see a section entitiled Two-factor authentication. If you haven't already set it up, or have previously disabled it, you will be able to link your authentication app by clicking on "Enable two-factor authentication".
Upon clicking on this button, you will be presented with a QR code. Open your authenticator app, and choose the option that allows you to add a new code through scanning a QR code. Using this, scan the QR code you can see.
Once your authenticator app registers the code, click on "Next". In the following step, you can enter the code from your authenticator app to ensure that
Enter the current code for the Seats.io entry in your authenticator app, and click on "Validate link". If there is a problem, such as an incorrect code, this will be reported back to you. If everything is OK, you'll get a confirmation message and the dialogue will close.
Your account now has two-factor authentication enabled, and future log-ins will require you to use this.
Logging in with two-factor authentication
Once two-factor authentication, logging in will have an additional step after you have entered your email and password. You have 10 minutes to enter this code before the login becomes invalid.
Just as when you confirmed the link when setting up two-factor authentication, you need to use your authenticator app to find the code. Enter the code here, and the login process will be complete.
Disabling two-factor authentication
At some point, you may wish to disable two-factor authentication. You can do this through User Settings.
Click on the "Disable two-factor authentication" button and you will again be presented with a request for the code from your authentication app. This is to prevent unauthorised users from changing the security on your account.
If there is a problem, such as an incorrect code, this will be reported to you. If the code is correct, two-factor authentication is then disabled and future log-ins will only require your email and password.
If you want to re-enable two-factor authentication at any point, you can again follow the guide above.
